Lexar EZ

Growers looking to maximize corn yield potential turn to Lexar® EZ herbicide for superior residual weed control, multiple modes of action and a flexible application window.

Lexar EZ demonstrates the same excellent performance, crop safety and application flexibility customers have grown to expect from market-leading Lexar herbicide with the added benefit of improved handling. Its patented, capsule-suspension technology minimizes the effects of overwintering, decreases the amount of separation and minimizes residue in bulk tanks and sprayers. Field trials have confirmed that Lexar EZ performs equally to Lexar for corn safety and weed control.

  • Application Flexibility.
    • Lexar EZ is the best opportunity for one-pass weed control in corn, but for growers planning a two-pass program, Lexar EZ widens the window of application for a post-emergence application of a Touchdown® brand + Callisto® Xtra herbicide or Halex® GT herbicide if needed.
    • Lexar EZ can be applied from pre-plant up to 12-inch corn. Several new corn herbicide brands, introduced by the competition, do not have this flexibility.
  • Burndown and Residual. Lexar EZ offers longer-lasting residual of more broadleaf weeds and grasses than competitive herbicides.
  • Yield Potential Protection. Lexar EZ keeps fields clean early in the season when weeds can be most damaging to yield. By managing early-season weeds, nutrients and fertilizers will help protect yield and grow more corn.
  • Weed Resistance Management. Where glyphosate is not performing like it used to, Lexar EZ contains three effective modes of action to decrease dependence on glyphosate.
    • Lexar EZ is a Resistance Fighter™ herbicide containing three effective modes of action, which help manage weed biotypes tolerant or resistant to glyphosate, ALS-inhibiting, PPO and triazine herbicides.
  • Excellent crop safety for pre and post applications even in adverse weather conditions.

Lexar EZ vs. Corvus

Lexar EZ Delivers Performance Farmers Can Count On

Lexar® EZ herbicide demonstrates the same excellent performance, crop safety and application flexibility customers have grown to expect from market leading Lexar herbicide with the added benefit of improved handling.

Its patented, capsule-suspension technology minimizes the effects of overwintering, decreases the amount of separation and minimizes residue in bulk tanks and sprayers.

Field trials have confirmed that Lexar EZ performs equally to Lexar for corn safety and weed control.

Top Reasons Why Lexar EZ Herbicide is Superior to Corvus® Herbicide

  1. Lexar EZ contains three effective modes of action while Corvus only contains one. Lexar EZ offers better management of resistant weeds.
    • A Resistance Fighter™ brand, Lexar EZ manages weed biotypes tolerant or resistant to glyphosate, ALS inhibiting, PPO and triazine herbicides.
    • Lexar EZ offers longer-lasting residual control of more broadleaf weeds and grasses than Corvus including difficult weeds such as waterhemp, morningglories, cocklebur, sunflowers, ragweeds, barnyardgrass, foxtails and Palmer amaranth.
  2. Like Lexar, Lexar EZ provides more effective broadleaf weed control than Corvus.
    • Lexar provides 20% better control of waterhemp than Corvus.

  3. Lexar EZ provides more effective grass control than Corvus.
    • Lexar EZ contains Dual Magnum® herbicide, which provides superior pre-emergence grass control and longer-lasting residual grass control than Corvus.
    • Lexar EZ is labeled to control eight more grasses than Corvus.
    • In fourteen university trials conducted across the Midwest, Lexar and Corvus were compared for giant foxtail control. Lexar provided more effective control of giant foxtail than Corvus.

  4. Lexar EZ provides a wide range of solutions to fit any farming practice.
    • Lexar EZ delivers the best opportunity for one-pass weed control when applied pre-emergence at a full rate.
    • In a planned two-pass program, Lexar EZ widens the window for a post-emergence application of glyphosate or Halex® GT herbicide if needed in glyphosate-tolerant corn.
    • Lexar EZ can be split-applied with a portion of the rate applied pre-emergence followed by the remaining portion of the rate applied post-emergence.
  5. Lexar EZ has a wider post-emergence application window than Corvus delivering flexibility for a broad range of farming practice.
    • Lexar EZ can be applied from pre-plant up to 12-inch corn offering growers a wide post-emergence application window in the event of unexpected planting delays.
    • Corvus label recommends application only up to 2-leaf corn.
  6. Lexar EZ offers unmatched tank mix flexibility for customized weed control solutions.
    • Lexar EZ can be tank mixed with a wide variety of post-emergence products including glyphosate herbicides like Touchdown® or Roundup® brands for use in glyphosate-tolerant corn.

      – When applied post-emergence, the label recommends that Corvus only be tank mixed with atrazine
    • Although Lexar EZ is compatible with a wide range of tank mix partners including nitrogen fertilizers and atrazine herbicides like AAtrex® brands, it does not require a tank mix partner to achieve effective broadleaf weed and grass control.

      – The Corvus label recommends the addition of atrazine for optimum weed control.
  7. Lexar EZ exhibits excellent crop safety on a variety of crops at labeled application timings and in adverse weather conditions.
    • Even with a safener, the Corvus label does not recommend tank mixtures of Corvus with other herbicides or adjuvants for early post-emergence applications. It states doing so may result in crop response symptoms including bleaching, leaf edge necrosis and stunting.
    • Lexar EZ is registered for use on more crops than Corvus including field corn, seed corn, silage corn, sweet corn, yellow popcorn and grain sorghum.

Bottom Line: Trust Lexar EZ for unmatched application flexibility, longer-lasting residual, broader-spectrum broadleaf weed and grass control, greater tank mix flexibility, proven crop safety and performance farmers can count on.

Lexar EZ, which is powered by the Callisto® chemistry, owes its origin to the discovery of a natural herbicide secreted by the Callistemon plant. This is Callisto Plant Technology® and it brings unprecedented broadleaf weed control and exceptional crop safety to Lexar EZ unmatched by the competition.

Lexar EZ vs. Balance Flexx

Lexar® EZ corn herbicide provides better weed control, longer residual and unlike Balance® Flexx herbicide, does not require an additional tank-mix partner for maximized performance. In addition, Lexar EZ can be applied from pre-plant up to 12-inch corn, offering a wider application window than Balance Flexx.

Growers Continue to Trust the Value of Lexar EZ

  • Lexar EZ provides season-long broadleaf weed and grass control that cannot be matched. According to the label, Balance Flexx may not provide control of emerged weeds larger than one true leaf stage.
  • Lexar EZ has a flexible application window and can be applied pre-emergence or post-emergence up to 12-inch corn. Balance Flexx has a narrow application window, only recommending pre-emergence or early post-emergence applications up to two-leaf corn.
  • Although Lexar EZ is compatible with a wide range of tank-mix partners, it does not require a tank-mix partner to achieve effective broadleaf weed and grass control. Balance Flexx requires the addition of atrazine for optimum weed control.
  • Three effective modes of action mean Lexar EZ, a Resistance Fighter™ brand, is a better tool for weed resistance management.

The Data Speaks for Itself
University trials conducted in 2008 throughout the Midwest show the broadleaf weed control of a full rate of Balance Flexx plus atrazine was not as effective as the control provided by a full rate of Lexar. The same trials show the grass control provided by a full rate of Balance Flexx was not as strong as the grass control provided by a full rate of Lexar.

Lexar EZ vs. Verdict

Lexar EZ corn herbicide provides burndown plus residual control of the toughest broadleaf weeds and grasses in corn. Plus, it delivers application flexibility for any farming practice or weather condition. When compared to Verdict™ herbicide (formerly Integrity™ herbicide), which has limited residual control, a restrictive application window, fewer modes of action and inferior crop safety, Lexar EZ herbicide can't be beat.

Weed Control

  • Lexar EZ provides long-lasting residual control and when applied at a full rate, delivers the best opportunity for one-pass weed control in conventional or glyphosate-tolerant corn.
  • The residual control of Verdict is limited so it is intended to be used as part of a two-pass program.
  • Even when Lexar EZ is applied at a foundation rate, Verdict cannot match its performance on grasses and small-seeded broadleaf weeds.

Application Window

  • Lexar EZ can be applied from pre-plant up to 12-inch corn, or as part of a no-till burndown program.
  • Verdict cannot be applied after corn emergence.

Modes of Action

  • Lexar EZ contains three proven and highly effective modes of action to combat tough weeds and ward off weed resistance.
  • Verdict only contains two modes of action, which offer reduced weed control and resistance management.

Crop Safety

  • Lexar EZ provides excellent crop safety when applied pre-emergence or post-emergence up to 12-inch corn, and has been safely used on a wide range of soil types under variable weather conditions.
  • Verdict does not contain a safener and crop injury may occur when applied under stressful conditions.

Lexar EZ vs. SureStart/TripleFLEX

SureStart® herbicide may claim it is designed to maximize yields in glyphosate-tolerant corn, but its low use rate is intended to be part of a two-pass program that lacks residual control and must be followed by glyphosate for complete control. Lexar® EZ corn herbicide offers the best opportunity for one-pass weed control when used pre-emergence and provides superior broad-spectrum weed control, multiple effective modes of action and a flexible application window. Even when used as part of a planned two-pass program, Lexar EZ still outperforms SureStart followed by glyphosate.

Lexar EZ provides residual control in one pass and contains three effective modes of action to combat weed resistance without relying on glyphosate for complete weed control.

Lumax EZ vs. Surestart

Bottom Line: Lexar EZ can provide season-long control in one pass and still exceeds SureStart even when used as part of a planned two-pass program. SureStart is not designed for one-pass control and must rely on glyphosate for complete control of many weeds, which increases the risk for glyphosate resistance.

Lexar EZ vs. Harness Xtra

Lexar® EZ corn herbicide provides the best opportunity for one-pass weed control when used pre-emergence at a full rate, and provides a wider application window for glyphosate. The fact of the matter is Lexar EZ from Syngenta offers the whole package, while Harness® Xtra herbicide virtually guarantees the need for a second pass to apply a Roundup® brand to clean up the weeds that were either missed by Harness Xtra or have emerged.

  • Broader-spectrum broadleaf weed and grass control powered by Callisto®, Dual Magnum® and atrazine herbicides.
  • Longer residual control of grasses and broadleaves – almost twice as long as Harness Xtra.
  • Longer residual control offers an extended window for an application of glyphosate if needed.
  • Three effective modes of action compared to just two modes of action in Harness Xtra, which means Lexar EZ, a Resistance Fighter™ brand, is a better tool for weed resistance management.
